About
Alo Music Centre is a musical instrument shop in Paschim Bazar, Moulvibazar town. Its owner is Pinku Das. Because wood was once plentiful, Paschim Bazar grew a wooden furniture and instrument-making trade, and the instrument market still survives. Pinku Das says one harmonium takes about seven days to make and sells for Tk 12,000 to Tk 40,000. They are made from akashmoni, gamari, kerosene wood, mahogany and teak. The report notes that small cottage craftsmen like these are short of capital.
