About
Belal Uddin repairs mobile phones, electric fans and other electrical goods at a makeshift footpath stall beside the railway line in Raufabad, on the Muradpur–Hathazari road in Chattogram city. He lost both legs at 13, in 1993, under a shuttle train; after his father died he broke bricks and sold vegetables before learning repairs while working in shops. He set up this stall in Raufabad 15 years ago, and it supports his mother, wife and two children. Long-standing customers say he works fast and precisely. He says lack of capital keeps him from expanding the stall.
