Chandana Haldar (30) of Howla village in Ratnapur union, Agailjhara upazila, took up fish selling to support her family after her husband Bijoy Haldar was paralysed and bedridden. At dawn she goes to the wholesale market at Goila fish bazaar and buys fish at auction. She then sells it sitting by the road in front of Howla Government Primary School, and when fish is left over she walks from village to village selling door to door. She earns Tk 200-300 a day and spends Tk 70-80 on travel. The upazila executive officer referred to her as a fish trader and promised help for the family.
