About
At the Bepari household in Char Manosha village, Rajapur union, Bhola Sadar upazila, farmer Dulal Bepari raises 10 cattle the traditional way. The two biggest are Holstein Friesian bulls, 'Kala Chan' (about 22 maunds) and 'Sada Chan' (18 maunds), born to two cows he bought from a farm in nearby Malerhat. Raised naturally for about three years, each gets 18 kg of concentrate a day in two meals, plus German grass, pumpkin, potato, maize and wheat bran, and apples or oranges once a week. He looks after them himself with his wife and son Md. Amin. Before the 2026 Eid-ul-Azha he was asking Tk 8 lakh for Kala Chan and Tk 7 lakh for Sada Chan, and had already sold four of his seven smaller cattle at good prices. People come from far away every day to see the two giant bulls. The district livestock officer says he raised them naturally on the department's advice.
