About
Jamal Uddin (74), a farmer from Syedabad village in Lord Hardinge union, Lalmohan upazila, has farmed for more than 50 years. In the 2022 season he grew onion and garlic on 50 decimals of his own land, and peanuts, chilli, sweet potato, tomato, beans, mung dal, felon dal and mustard on 2 acres. His land is never left fallow; some crop is growing all year round. He says that after household costs he saves about Tk 50,000 each season. He farms together with his son and has taught all six of his children to farm. The union chairman calls him a good farmer.
