About
Farmer Fazlul Haque of Gandachhi village, Bangadda union, Nangalkot upazila, Cumilla, has become known locally as a successful cucumber (khira) grower. He grows khira on 20 decimals; harvest starts about six weeks after sowing at the end of Ashwin. Every other day he picks 8–9 maunds and takes them by van to sell wholesale to traders at the local Bangadda Bazar. In the 2021–22 season he sold about 50 maunds for some Tk 80,000, a profit of about Tk 60,000 after costs; prices began at up to Tk 1,800 per maund and later ran Tk 1,200–1,600. His son Murad Hossain works with him regularly. The upazila agriculture office advises him.
