Selina Akter (32), of Bepari Bari in Kathali, ward 8 of Bhola municipality, Bhola Sadar, founded 'Glamour Zone Nakshikantha'. Facing money troubles and unable to find a job, she watched nakshi kantha design and stitching on YouTube, borrowed Tk 20,000 from her elder brother for thread and cloth, and started from home. Within six years she was self-reliant, and 50-60 women now work for her; many stitch at home and earn Tk 200-400 per kantha depending on size. She sells both online and offline, with kanthas priced from Tk 300 to Tk 15,000, and earns more than Tk 1 lakh a month. Women come to her to learn nakshi kantha design and stitching. In 2023 the Department of Women Affairs named her the best Joyeeta (woman of economic success) of Bhola Sadar upazila, and the district administration gave her a best Joyeeta award on Begum Rokeya Day.
