About
Achhar Ali, a smallholder farmer of Saheber Char Nayapara village in Hossainpur upazila, Kishoreganj, bought two Friesian bulls about four years earlier for Tk 3.5 lakh and raised them. He named them 'Raja' (11 ft long, 1,150 kg) and 'Badshah' (10 ft long, 1,000 kg). His family members also worked hard to raise them. The bulls had their own shed with round-the-clock electricity, and were fed flattened rice, bran, bananas, rice polish, chickpeas, maize, fresh grass and brown sugar. The upazila livestock officer said they were raised on local feed without harmful drugs, with regular advice from the livestock office. For the 2023 Eid-ul-Azha he hoped to sell the pair from his home for Tk 20 lakh, offering the buyer two goats free and, if needed, keeping the animals until the day of Qurbani. Crowds came to his home every day to see the bulls.
