Messrs Ma-Babar Doa Fiber Glass is a small workshop in Char Bolaikathi village, Kamalapur union, Patuakhali Sadar upazila, making motorcycle decoration parts from plastic fibre. Its owner, Md. Al-Amin Howlader, worked as a labourer in Dubai for about twelve years from 2008; home on leave in 2020, he was stranded by Covid and lost his job. Drawing on about two years he had spent as a youth at a similar workshop in Shyampur, Dhaka, he opened this one in his own village in late 2021. He began with one worker; as orders grew, four people now work there. Products are supplied to Dhaka, Chattogram and other parts of the country, and many buyers come to the village workshop to buy wholesale or retail. Unemployed young men from the area come to learn the work. Al-Amin earns Tk 35,000 to 45,000 a month on average. The village is about 23 km south-east of the district town.
