Jaherul Islam built Tahajid Agro Farm in West Para village, Sadar union, Purbadhala upazila, Netrokona, with borrowed money. In June 2024 the farm had 203 cattle of various sizes, mostly bulls being readied for sale at Eid-ul-Azha. The farm grows Napier grass in its own field, normally cut a day ahead or sun-dried before feeding. In June 2024, after freshly cut young Napier grass was fed straight away, 27 cattle died, including two dairy cows, two calves and 23 bulls, worth about Tk 70 lakh by the owner's estimate. The upazila livestock officer suspected nitrate poisoning from young grass in the rainy season.
