About
Rosni Akter (23) of the Shathibari area in Durgapur union, Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur, is a final-year philosophy student at Carmichael College. She runs a Facebook page called 'NK Handicrafts House', named after the initials of her father Nure Alam and mother Kohinur Begum. She has done design work on clothes since childhood, and since 2020 has turned the hobby into an income. She buys fabric by the yard at the local market and makes outfits in the designs customers choose; orders come both in person and online. Having learned from YouTube, she also makes laddu and nimki at home, which villagers buy from her house; most buyers are relatives and neighbours. She plans to buy an electric oven and make birthday cakes.
