About
In Amtala village of Roailbari union, Kendua upazila, Netrokona, brothers Minhaj Uddin Ahmed and Miraj Uddin Ahmed run a mushroom farm and training centre called 'NMC Mushroom Centre' (Netrokona Mushroom Centre) at their own home alongside their studies. They began in early 2021 after watching YouTube videos but did not do well at first; they then took a 10-day training course at Dream Mushroom Centre in Magura. They now grow oyster mushrooms, producing 15-20 kg a day on average and earning about Tk 50,000 a month after costs. Besides eating them at home they sell to outside buyers. They also train others who have become interested after seeing their success. According to the upazila agriculture office, this is the first commercial mushroom farm in the upazila.
