About
Orenda & Beans is an eco-friendly café in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka, run by 30-year-old entrepreneur Jannatul Ferdous. After graduate and master's studies at Eden College and work at several organisations, she left an NGO job and opened the café in 2024, with investment and guidance from UK-based expatriate Manjur Mia. It has 10 full-time staff and several freelancers, and makes a profit of about Tk 1 lakh a month. Part of the profit goes to humanitarian work: support for an old-age home, underprivileged and orphaned children, and disaster relief; underprivileged children are sometimes fed free at the café, and winter clothes and monthly groceries were given to the Abdul Ali Sebashram in Gazipur. She plans to create craft-based work for disadvantaged women.
