Parvin Akter of Shoshanghat in Habiganj town was a homemaker whose husband works in Saudi Arabia. Five years ago she joined the Ichhamoti Working Women's Samity of Habiganj Unnayan Sangstha and began saving regularly. With Tk 20,000 saved and a Tk 20,000 loan from the samity she bought a sewing machine and started work. Her capital and workforce grew, and she began supplying women's and children's clothing to shops in local markets. Her business capital is now about Tk 20 lakh, with 15 sewing machines employing 15–20 women.
