About
Prothoma Tailors is a tailoring shop beside Nur Nahar Begum's home in Deflabaria village, about seven kilometres from Pagla Kanai in Jhenaidah town. After her husband died she spent 12 years raising a son and a daughter by teaching at a kindergarten and a BRAC pre-primary school, working as a domestic helper and as a mason's assistant. When illness stopped her from working outside, she did needle-and-thread sewing at home. In October 2023, to mark Prothom Alo's 25th anniversary, members and advisers of Jhenaidah Bondhushava paid from their own pockets to give her a sewing machine, some cloth and supplies, and set up the shop named 'Prothoma Tailors' beside her house so she could earn regularly.
