About
Ishrat Jahan of Barishal has made paper flowers, boats, butterflies and birds since childhood; that hobby became a full business in 2017 under her brand 'Purple'. About 70 percent of the material in her scrapbooks is discarded items such as old shoe boxes and calendar paper, and a video of one drew a big response on Facebook. Her YouTube channel 'Purple Handicraft' has tutorials. All sales are online: orders come through her Facebook page, photos are exchanged over WhatsApp and email, and items outside Barishal go by courier.
