Recruit is a Sylhet-based start-up that hires software engineers for start-up companies abroad and provides IT support to foreign companies from Sylhet. Tahsin Mahbub Ponkti, from Trishal in Mymensingh, founded it with two friends, Risha and Dhananjoy. Tahsin studied environmental science at the Asian University for Women and worked as an HR manager at a multinational company before leaving her job to become an entrepreneur. Her two co-founders had worked at Google and several start-ups abroad, where they saw that many software engineers were needed but hiring them was hard - that gave the idea and the name. Work began in March 2020, and with an office and engineers it was fully running by May; in 2022 Tahsin said it was doing very well. Recruit trains junior engineers and invests in them to ease their path to becoming senior engineers. The founders also want to connect women software engineers with opportunities at home and abroad.
