About
Robu Biswas (57), a shoe and sandal maker at Khalek Bazar in Tungipara Upazila, Gopalganj, used to stitch and make shoes by hand; he could not finish even one pair a day and his family was in deep hardship. After training and a loan through an upazila administration programme, he now makes 10 to 20 pairs of shoes and sandals and vanity bags a day with machines. Two family members work with him, and he says the family is now doing well.
