About
Sagori Sarkar, a homemaker of Khatiagarh village in Gopalganj Sadar, has been fattening cattle for ten years and selling them for Eid-ul-Azha. Ten years ago she bought a cow for Tk 65,000, raised it for a year and sold it for Tk 1.65 lakh; she has fattened cattle every year since. In 2023 she fattened four Australian Friesian bulls and hoped to sell them for at least Tk 25 lakh. She feeds straw, bran, rice polish and grass; neighbours say she uses no harmful additives, so buyers come to her home to buy. Her husband Palash Bala repairs vans, rickshaws and bicycles at a garage beside the house. She plans to build a dairy and fattening farm, and many in the village now fatten cattle after her example.
