About
Md. Zakaria Hasan Chunnu of Dhoyail village in Mohammadpur upazila, Magura, went to Saudi Arabia in 2005 and on returning in 2019 started a cattle farm with an investment of Tk 4 lakh. In three years he sold about 250 head of cattle for a profit of around Tk 10 lakh, and the farm's assets are now worth about Tk 40 lakh. In 2022 the farm held 12 bulls and two cows; two bulls kept for the coming Eid had already been valued at Tk 5 lakh. Alongside cattle he has started keeping chickens and goats and has planted vegetables and fruit trees on the open ground. He says rising feed prices have caused some difficulty. The upazila livestock officer says he uses new techniques on the farm, and young people in the area are taking up cattle fattening after seeing him.
