Started on 5,000 taka; a 5-dollar ad returned 800, and profit now tops 1.5 lakh a month

A Facebook fashion business started with 5,000 taka in January 2022. The first 5-dollar ad, in February, brought in 800 taka; monthly profit now tops 150,000 taka with 17 staff.

This university student in Dhaka started a Facebook-based fashion business in January 2022 with 5,000 taka, selling panjabis, shirts, t-shirts, watches, fragrances, sunglasses, belts and leather wallets. His own pocket money as a student was 100 taka a day. In February he spent 5 US dollars on his first Facebook ad, which brought in 800 taka of sales. By June-July 2022 monthly profit was around 50,000 taka, and at the time of the report it was over 150,000. Seventeen people now work with him and 40-45 items go out for delivery each day. He puts the turning point down to learning Facebook marketing and applying it properly.

Lessons

  1. 1.Paid advertising, not organic posting, was the lever: a 5-dollar test ad returned 800 taka
  2. 2.5,000 taka was enough to begin, but it only scaled when ad spend and delivery volume grew together
