A 12-day course, then bridal work at homes for 25,000-30,000 a month

Alongside her honours degree she does home parlour work and bridal makeup, earning 25,000-30,000 taka a month. The training was just 12 days.

This student at Government Kumudini College in Bhuapur upazila, Tangail does makeup work alongside her honours degree. She took a 12-day beautician course run by the Upazila Women's Affairs Office; 20 women were trained in that programme between 30 June 2021 and 17 February 2022. She now earns 25,000-30,000 taka a month doing parlour work and bridal makeup at clients' homes, paying for her own studies and helping the family. Working at the client's home means no shop is needed: the costs are the training and a makeup kit. Two others from the same course are now training local women themselves.
