About
Beekeeper Abul Hashem of B-Chapitola village, Bangra Dakshin union, Muradnagar upazila, Cumilla, set up 250 bee boxes in the fields during the mustard and coriander season and hoped for 4 tonnes of honey that season; in his words, 'this time I want to bring a revolution in honey harvesting'. Nearly half of the district's mustard is grown in Muradnagar, and over a hundred beekeepers have placed boxes in at least 10 villages around Noagaon. The agriculture department says bee pollination raises crop yields by 20–25 percent. At harvest, local people crowd in to buy fresh honey.
