About
'Adi Gopal Mishtanno Bhandar', a sweet shop in the commercial area of Habiganj town, is known for its rasgulla; 'Adi Gopal's rasgulla' has a name both inside and outside the district. Proprietor Nepal Chandra Das (72) has run the shop for 44 years; he worked in a sweet shop as a young man before opening his own. His sons help run the business after finishing their studies. Its sweet-maker Runu Das explains that the rasgulla is made from cow's milk curdled with lemon juice, with flour, sugar and cardamom, kneaded by hand. Each rasgulla weighs 70–80 grams, 12–13 make a kilo, and a kilo sells for Tk 300.
