About
Three friends, Ashraf Shakil, Abdullah Mohammad Abed and Shahidul Islam, run an online and offline clothing business under the names Chirkut and Chirkutwala. During the Covid lockdown, while studying at a polytechnic institute, they decided to sell dyed clothing because one of them knew the craft, and began with hand-painted panjabis. The two Facebook pages they opened then, Chirkut and Chirkutwala, now have more than 400,000 followers. They sell over a thousand sarees a month on average, plus other products, and have their own outlet in Khilgaon, Dhaka. After all costs they make an average profit of Tk 2–3 lakh a month. Ten staff work for Chirkutwala online and offline. The three founders now study civil engineering at Dhaka International University and pay for their studies from the business. They want to make Chirkutwala one of the country's best clothing brands and build a network of dealers across Bangladesh.
