Cumilla New Batik Ghar is a workshop in the Kamalpur batik village of Cumilla, owned by Abu Sayeed. Every day 15–20 people work there—some dye, some apply wax, some fold the cloth—and work is reckoned weekly. It offers cotton fabric, three-pieces, silk saris and lungis. Kamalpur batik is sold in some 200 shops in Monoharpur, Kandirpar and Ramghat in Cumilla city and goes to Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and other districts. Demand rises in summer and falls in winter.
