About
Jumghor is a restaurant on the Dighinala–Babuchhara road in Khagrachhari, a little past the Pulin Headmanpara area, built in the style of a hill jum hut. Four siblings — Supan Chakma, Stalin Chakma, Dipika Chakma and Uday Shankar Chakma — started it in early 2023. Lead founder Supan Chakma used to make handicrafts; people who came to buy them kept asking where to find good food, which gave him the idea. Using their savings and a bank loan, they built and decorated the five-room restaurant, kitchen included, themselves on 50 decimals of their own land. The four siblings do everything from shopping to cooking and serving, helped by Supan's and Stalin's wives. Surrounded by flowers, bamboo machang huts, wooden swings and an artificial waterfall, it looks like a park; inside it is decorated with hill handicrafts and hand-painted pictures, and food is served in clay ware. They never sell stale food and cook to order (with half an hour's notice), take bookings for birthdays and events, and also cook Bengali and Chinese food on order. Prices are kept affordable with tourists in mind.
