Kurshikata Gallery

About

Kurshikata Gallery belongs to Raihana Khanam (Reshma), who is over sixty and lives in Majumdarpara, Shibganj, Sylhet city. She started small about 35 years ago with the crochet she had learned from her mother as a child, and the income once paid for her children's education and household costs. She sells handmade crochet clothing, showpieces, beadwork, bags, prayer caps, block-printed three-piece sets, saris, dresses, fabric shoes, children's vests, table cloths, cushion covers and more. She designs the clothes herself and takes on temporary workers when needed. Retailers and wholesalers used to buy from her; since the pandemic she has built a large online customer base and gets advance orders every month. She now supplies 5 or 6 outlets in the city at wholesale rates, and orders also come from abroad. She planned to open a showroom in Shibganj on 1 December 2025. She is finance secretary of the Grassroots women entrepreneurs' society in Sylhet.
