About
Mohammad Meherab Hossain (24), from Moslemabad village in Gunaritala union, runs a small tin tea stall under a big banyan tree in Jorkhali Bazar, Madarganj upazila, Jamalpur. In 2020, while studying for his HSC and working as an electrician, he was electrocuted and both his arms had to be amputated at the elbow. Rather than beg, he opened this stall in 2023; he holds the kettle with both elbows in a special way to make ginger tea, and his mother Khadijatun Kubra helps with some tasks. Besides tea, the stall sells biscuits, chanachur, nuts, muri, paan and children's snacks, mainly to people coming to the bazar. According to Prothom Alo (January 2026) he makes a profit of Tk 500 to 700 a day, which supports his mother, wife and child.
