Mohidul Zaman Kajol, a farmer at Sitarampur Uttarpara in Fatehpur union, Jashore Sadar upazila, raises cattle for Eid-ul-Azha. At the 2023 Eid his 35-maund black-and-white bull 'Bhaijan' was talked about across Jashore; he asked Tk 1.8 million, but no one offered more than Tk 600,000, so he did not sell. Feeding Bhaijan green grass, wheat bran and flour, soybean cake, crushed maize, rice polish and rice husk costs Tk 800-1,000 a day. At the same Eid all six of his other, medium-sized cattle sold for Tk 150,000-200,000 each. He is preparing again for the next Eid and says he will sell to buyers for social events too if the price is right.
