About
Md. Monir Hossain (30), son of Nurul Haque of Indrapur village in Mominpur union, Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur, had taken over his father's farming. In 2021 he took a six-month fish farming course at the Dinajpur Youth Development Training Centre and began raising fish in a small pond. In June 2024 he leased a 50-decimal pond from his neighbour Mokhtar Ali for Tk 25,000 and started producing fry of native tengra catfish using modern methods. His costs were Tk 1.65 lakh, and in a year he sold Tk 3.7 lakh worth of fish and fry. In 2025 he leased 2 more acres of ponds. Four permanent and seven temporary workers work on the farm, and he has planted fruit trees and vegetables around the pond banks. Fish farmers and fry sellers from near and far buy tengra fry from him, many ordering in advance. PKSF and Gram Bikash Kendra give technical support.
