About
Mosharraf Hossain, a trader and farmer from the Rashidpur area of Jamalpur town, raises cattle for Eid-ul-Azha on his own farm. A local-breed bull he bought five years ago for Tk 70,000 has been fattened the traditional way on fresh grass, straw, maize and bananas; for its build and bearing it was named 'Jamalpurer Don'. The bull is 8 ft 2 in long and 6 ft 1 in tall, and the owner says it weighs 28 maunds. At the Jamalpur district livestock fair it was recognised as the biggest bull in 2023 and 2024, winning him Tk 5,000 the first year and Tk 10,000 the next. Before Eid-ul-Azha 2024 he asked Tk 10 lakh for it, selling from the farm rather than the cattle market; people often come from other areas to see it.
