About
Boraitoli union in Chakaria upazila, Cox's Bazar, is known as the 'rose village', with 103 rose gardens large and small on 105 acres. In Lamarpara, Boraitoli, local grower Nasir Uddin has a rose garden of 4,600 plants on 40 decimals. On the day before Valentine's Day he sold 1,200 roses from the garden and cut 1,300 for the day itself, selling each at Tk 11. Ninety per cent of Boraitoli's roses go to the flower shops of Cheragi Pahar in Chattogram city and the rest to local markets; florists and young buyers also come to the gardens to buy.
