Nazmul Huda's pabda fish farms

Nazmul Huda, a young entrepreneur from Khanpur village in Satkhira Sadar upazila, left his studies in 2018 to go into the fish business. He started by farming pabda on six bighas and now owns four farms. His pabda is supplied across the country and also goes to the Indian market. He says pabda is selling at Tk 13,000-14,000 a maund depending on size. Because pabda reaches market size in five to six months, two crops a year are possible. Seeing his success, many people in the area are preparing to become fish entrepreneurs.
