About
Physically disabled Farid Hossain (40) runs a small shop at East Matibhanga Bazar in Bhandaria, Pirojpur. Born with impaired hands and legs and 26 inches tall, Farid cannot move without help; he studied up to class five. His mother Roushan Ara set up the shop for him at the bazar next to their home; at first his parents carried him there, and now they bring him in a wheelchair from the Department of Social Services. The shop stocks biscuits, chocolates, chips, bananas, juice and other goods. Since he cannot use his hands, customers pick up what they need themselves and leave the money in a box. He earns Tk 100–150 a day.
