Sananda is a beauty parlour founded by Jashore entrepreneur Sufia Mahmud. She started out as an entrepreneur in Jashore in the 1990s, before social media existed. Married as a child, she left school in her early teens; to support herself and her child she first worked as an assistant in a tailoring shop, then trained and opened a boutique with a little capital. Alongside tailoring she learned beauty work and set up the 'Sananda' beauty parlour. As social media spread she opened an online page for the business, and training under Meta's SheMeansBusiness programme taught her how to reach customers in other parts of the country online. She has given jobs to women in need around her and arranged training for them.
