The century-old Bhojeshwar market on the Kirtinasha river in Naria Upazila, Shariatpur, is known for pigeon trading; its Friday and Monday markets sell Tk 30-40 lakh worth of pigeons a week. Beside the market, shops selling pigeon feed, medicine, cages and farm supplies are open every day from morning to night. Pigeon feed seller Selim Howlader says they also keep various kinds of pigeons for buyers who cannot come on market days. Some of his customers buy pigeons for meat and others to keep as a hobby.
