Seven Star PO Footwear is a machine-made shoe factory in Brahmanbaria, owned by Md. Hanif Mia, general secretary of the Brahmanbaria PO Footwear Association. Before Eid-ul-Fitr its workers were putting in 10-hour days; worker Mohammad Asadullah said he could stamp the soles of 3,000 pairs between 9 am and 2 pm. The owner says production in the Eid month is better than in ordinary months. Brahmanbaria has 38 machine-made (PO) footwear factories and 20–25 handmade-shoe workshops; traders from Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barishal and Khulna divisions come and take shoes away by covered van.
