About
Shah Firoz (Firoz Mia), a young entrepreneur from Nolbunia village, Nishanbaria union, Taltali upazila, Barguna, set up his orchard in 2025 with seedlings of four improved kul (jujube) varieties brought from Faridpur, including Ball Sundari and apple kul. He invested Tk 3 lakh raised through loans. Drip irrigation, organic fertiliser, pest management and regular care brought the orchard into full bearing. By January 2026 he had sold more than ten maunds and expected about Tk 10 lakh from the season. His kul sells for Tk 150-300 a kg depending on variety. Wholesale buyers from Barguna, Pirojpur, Barishal, Gopalganj and other districts contact him regularly. Many young people come to see the orchard; inspired by him, Mahmudul Hasan of the same union is starting his own. The upazila agriculture office gives technical support.
