About
Shifa Cane Furniture is a cane furniture shop in Paschim Bazar, Moulvibazar town, described in the report as an example of the area's traditional handicraft. Its proprietor is Shahin Mia. The shop sells sofas, chairs, swings, stools (mora) and many other kinds of cane furniture. Shahin Mia says this eco-friendly, finely worked furniture still draws keen buyers, especially expatriates home on visits. But a shortage of raw material and skilled craftsmen, and cheap plastic and board furniture, are threatening the cane trade.
