About
'Shotota Varieties Stores' is a grocery and general store owned by Asaduzzaman Tipu Faraji at Hajir Hat bazar in Pangashia union of Dumki upazila, Patuakhali, about 14 km north-west of the district town. Tipu once worked in Saudi Arabia, returned home in 2010 and started this business in his own area at the start of 2021. Every year since, from the first day of Ramadan to the day before Eid, he sells puffed rice, chickpeas, dates, khesari lentils, gram flour, soybean oil, flattened rice and other Iftar foods to cash buyers at a profit of only Tk 2-3 per kg. Local shoppers, a school headmaster and an official of the consumer rights directorate have praised the initiative.
