About
Sultan Mahmud and Rahela, a couple from Binail village in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur, run a poultry farm on 25 decimals beside their home. At first they raised Sonali chicks for three months and sold them, and also kept brown-egg layers, but rising feed prices made the layers unprofitable. On the upazila livestock office's advice, in late 2023 they switched to BAU chickens, developed by Bangladesh Agricultural University researchers, which look like local chickens but pass one kilogram in 40-42 days and taste like local chicken too. The couple look after the farm together and need no hired workers.
