Tamai Food Cart (TFC) is an online restaurant in Tamai village, Belkuchi upazila, Sirajganj, named after the village. Stuck at home during Covid, Zakia Afroz first sold local sarees, lungis and three-pieces through a Facebook page, then started TFC on 8 December 2020 with just Tk 2,500. Her parents and younger sisters Julia Afroz and Nusrat Jerin help her. It began in the family home, but within six months orders grew enough to need a larger office; now 15 people work on cooking and delivery. Daily orders have grown from 10–15 to 25–30, and they often cater events of 250–300 people as well as office orders. Orders come from the village, nearby areas and beyond, and TFC's story was shown in a Grameenphone featured story. One sister handles Facebook-page orders and another phone orders; father Nasimul Gani oversees shopping and on-time delivery, and her mother supervises cooking with five women staff. Zakia plans to open branches in other districts.
