About
Tushar Imran, also called Khokon, runs a fuchka and chotpoti stall on a van cart at the mouth of Amalpara lane on NS Road in Kushtia town. His father Hasan Ali began selling fuchka at the same spot in 1992-93; when his father died suddenly in 2010, Tushar, then in higher secondary, kept the stall going. He went on to graduate in management from Kushtia Government College, bringing the cart to NS Road every day after classes. The stall runs from afternoon until 10 pm, and his cart draws a bigger crowd than the other carts beside it. From 5 to 7 pm he takes online orders, getting 10-15 a day, which he follows on a small monitor fixed to the cart. His mother and wife prepare the ingredients at home. He sells sour and sweet fuchka of several kinds, chotpoti and spiced chanachur; he gives free chotpoti to young Quran hafez children and keeps a 'free offer' for orphans. With this income he educated and married off his two sisters and built a house.
