A pickle business begun at home in 2020 with 300 taka now sells about 100 kg of beef pickle a month at 1,000 taka a kg, carries 20 lakh taka of capital, employs 15 people and earns 3-4 lakh taka a month.

This young woman in Bogura began making pickle at home in 2020, during the COVID period, with 300 taka of ingredients. The business was built around beef pickle, now about 100 kg a month at 1,000 taka a kg, with garlic pickle at around 50 kg a month and ghee at around 100 kg added later. One distinctive, premium item carries the rest of the line, so she has never had to compete on price. The working capital has reached 20 lakh taka, 15 people now work for her, and monthly income is 3-4 lakh taka. The products go to all 64 districts and have reached buyers in 47 countries.
