Four city branches and two upazila gyms that earn nothing: the name came from coaching

This man from Chandanaish joined a gym as a thin schoolboy, bought his own equipment despite mockery from neighbours and family, and opened his gym at Bahaddarhat in Chattogram in 2002. He placed seventh in Mr Bangladesh that year and was runner-up in 2007, 2009 and 2011, after which he put his effort into coaching rather than competing and from 2013 began entering his trainees as a team. At Mr Dhaka 2014, 27 of his trainees competed, 17 won prizes and four were champions in individual events; in 2015 one of his students won Mr Bangladesh, and in 2019 he was given a gold medal as the country's best bodybuilding coach. He now has four branches in the city and two more in Patiya and Chandanaish — in his words, "the two gyms at Patiya and Chandanaish bring in no income at all" — which he runs to keep local boys away from drugs. Chattogram has about a hundred gyms today, but it is his name that keeps coming up in the competition lists.
