He was jobless for years after his father died. A six-month hands-on course in electrical repair in 2023 led to his own shop, now bringing about 40,000 taka a month with two workers.

This young man from Bekatia union in Jashore lost his father in 2018, while he was sitting his HSC, and was out of work for a long stretch afterwards. In 2023 he took a six-month hands-on course in electrical work and repair under PKSF's RAISE project. He then borrowed a small amount and opened his own repair shop, taking in fridges, televisions and other household electrical goods. The report puts his income at about 40,000 taka a month, with two workers at the shop. Taking several kinds of appliance rather than one is what keeps a village repair shop busy all year.
