When the kindergarten in Manikganj town closed, this teacher's salary stopped entirely. He now scrapes by tutoring two students at his own house.

This man taught at a kindergarten in Manikganj town. When the school closed during COVID-19 his salary stopped altogether, and the salary was his only income. He now tutors two students at his own house — barely enough, as the report puts it, to keep going. What those two tuitions pay him a month is not stated anywhere in the piece. His account in this survey of people who lost income across nine districts is brief, and in his own words: "I am in extreme despair." When the institution stops paying, a teacher is left with only the few students he holds personally, and if that number was not built up beforehand it does not close the gap.
