A 16-maund bull priced at 6 lakh drew one offer of 2.5 lakh

Over two years this one bull ate more than 200,000 taka of bought feed and still costs 500-600 taka a day. It did not sell at the Eid haat.

This farmer from Ikorchali village in Taraganj, Rangpur, spent two years fattening a single bull for Qurbani Eid, taking it to at least 16 maunds. He asked 6 lakh taka for it; one buyer came, looked, and offered 2.5 lakh. Bought feed for that one animal had already cost him more than 200,000 taka, and it still costs 500-600 taka a day to keep. The bull did not sell. Across Badarganj and Taraganj upazilas 59,565 animals were prepared against demand for 50,863, prices were low, and buyers wanted small and medium cattle. The heavily fattened large animals were the ones left standing unsold in the haat.
