About
Abul Kalam of Rampur village in Sadar union of Jamalganj upazila, Sunamganj, set out to try something new and grew capsicum experimentally on five bighas of land. At the time of the report his plants were bearing green capsicum; he said the favourable weather had given each fruit a good weight and that demand in the market meant good prices. In his method the seedlings are ready a month after sowing, and are planted at set spacing on beds covered with polythene; flowers come in 30–35 days and the fruit is ready to sell within another 25 days, with harvests continuing for several months. He says many others have taken up capsicum after seeing his success. He plans to grow several times as much in future. The upazila agriculture officer has visited his field.
